FAQ: The Future Starts Here

Site layout: We decided to go for a really basic html look. We wanted the site to be easy to read, and we liked the idea of content being emphasised over everything else. There is also a subversive element to the design. the printed edition of the zine comes with a front cover made out of sandpaper (the idea being that it will literally attack the other books it is next to when you place it on your shelf), and for the website, we wanted a similar idea, hence the blue screen similar to what you get when your pc has just crashed… we liked the idea of ‘too much information’ making your pc look as if it has just died.

Articles: Anyone can contribute anything, the site doesn’t (or shouldn’t) have a left wing, right wing or centrist bias. We want the site to be a platform for all forms of writing and creativity. Don’t worry about ‘ academic standards ‘ - so long as the initial idea is good, we always help with editing / fine tuning pieces. Email contributions to socksandtshirts@hotmail.com.

Band: Yes experiments in living is a band as well but it’s just one aspect of what we do. It doesn’t take priority over everything else… we’re bored of new rave and emo and indie chavs. Read the manifesto - our aim is to try and condense that into an albums worth of songs. We cant help being guitar based - but at least we want to point towards something better. Our favourite bands (the libertines, the manics, the smiths) all did that by inspiring their fans to be create. We want to go a step further then they did. We want to hold regular events where we, and our contributors (that means you) show case things that we have been working on and share ideas with each other. poetry, short films, paintings, collage, songs - articles and rants, but also fun to.
